Batch-style overlays and control layer visibility

Apply consistent text, image, logo, and business-line styles, then inspect the map by overlay type.

Before you start

Add the overlays you want to style first. The floating toolbar panels act on existing content and show their target counts.

Follow along

Step 1 of 4

Choose a target

Open Text Styles, Image & Logo Styles, Leader Line Style, or Layer Visibility in the floating toolbar.

In your map

Choose a target

Open Text Styles, Image & Logo Styles, Leader Line Style, or Layer Visibility in the floating toolbar.

How-to 1

Choose the right batch target

The floating toolbar styles or shows groups of existing overlays by type. Use it after adding the content you want to standardize. It does not select nearby businesses or create new labels.

Counts help you check the target. Text Styles counts standalone text labels. Image & Logo Styles distinguishes images from business overlays. A business rendered as text still belongs to the business type, while artwork added through Logos is a standalone image.

How-to 2

Style all standalone text labels

  1. 1

    Open Text Styles

Use the floating toolbar control titled Text Styles. If it reports no text labels, add the desired content with the Text tool first. Search-generated business labels are not the same target set.

  2. 2

    Prepare the shared appearance

Choose a text preset, font, and size, then set text color, background, border, and padding. Watch the preview. Choosing values prepares a style; use the Apply button to commit it to the labels.

  3. 3

    Review the target count

Read the count in Apply to All N Labels. This action affects all standalone labels of that type, not only the most recently edited or currently visible one.

  4. 4

    Apply and inspect exceptions

Apply the style, then check the longest text, a short label, and the most important callout. Their wording remains separate. If a primary callout needs a different treatment, edit it individually after the shared pass.

How-to 3

Style images, business logos, or both

  1. 1

    Open Image & Logo Styles

Read the image and logo counts. The buttons shown depend on which types are present. A map with only one target type does not need the combined Apply to All option.

  2. 2

    Set Container Style

Choose a Quick Style or adjust Fill, Border, opacity, Border Width, and Padding. Test the visual treatment against both light and dark artwork in your composition.

  3. 3

    Choose the scope explicitly

Use Apply to Images for standalone images, Apply to Logos for business overlays, or Apply to All for both when offered. The counts in the buttons identify the scope.

  4. 4

    Review after applying

Inspect several different logos. A uniform backing can help a roster, but a dark backing that suits white artwork may not suit every image. Make necessary individual corrections afterward and save.

How-to 4

Style business leader lines

  1. 1

    Open Leader Line Style

This panel requires business overlays. Use it to coordinate their line color, width, pattern, dot color, and dot size. It does not replace a location review.

  2. 2

    Apply to Business Lines

Choose the desired values and click Apply to Business Lines. Inspect several endpoints and connector paths after the change. Keep anchor accuracy separate from visual consistency.

  3. 3

    Set shared visibility

Use Show Business Lines to show or hide the business connectors together. Use individual overlay controls for supported exceptions and for other overlay types.

How-to 5

Use Layers to inspect the composition

  1. 1

    Open Layer Visibility

Click the floating toolbar control titled Layer Visibility. Its panel heading is Layers. It shows rows for the overlay types currently present, with counts and eye icons.

  2. 2

    Toggle a category

Click Text Labels, Business Logos, Images, Shapes, or Groups to hide or show that type. A missing row means the map has no overlays of that type. The subject property is handled separately from these rows.

  3. 3

Use Hide All or Show All

Use the master action when you want a quick view of the base map or want to restore the listed categories. This changes category visibility rather than deleting their content.

  4. 4

    Restore the final composition

Before saving or exporting, show the overlays needed in the deliverable and check the actual preview. Do not assume a temporary inspection state is your intended final result.

How-to 6

Worked example: standardize a finished map

Suppose a map contains six custom notes, four business records, and two uploaded photos. Use Text Styles for the six notes. Use Apply to Logos for the four businesses if you want matching logo backings, leaving the photos out of that change. Use Leader Line Style for the business connectors.

Hide Shapes temporarily to inspect whether an area annotation is covering the road context, then show the category again. Check the final result in Download. If a batch style changed a special callout you wanted to preserve, make that individual correction after the shared styling pass.

How-to 7

Understand changes that appear to have no effect

What happenedWhat to check
A business name did not change in Text StylesIt may be a business overlay rather than standalone text. Use its own controls.
Choosing a color did not update the mapBatch panels prepare settings; click the appropriate Apply button.
A shape or group did not change with image stylingThose are separate overlay types with their own editors.
A line did not change with business-line stylingIt may belong to an image, group, text, or subject overlay.
You cannot find one object in LayersLayers lists types and counts, not individually named objects. Locate the object on the canvas.

Check your result

The intended overlay types share the right style and the final composition has the required categories visible.

Read the quick walkthrough as text
